Gardens and Home Welcome to Bellingrath

Wonderful Wednesdays at Bellingrath Gardens & Home Bellingrath Gardens and Home is pleased to announce the summer 2008 Wonderful Wednesdays schedule. A variety of fun, hands-on activities and informative presentations for all ages are offered each Wednesday. All programs are open to the public and are included in the price of Gardens admission. Additional fees for some programs will be noted.

Mr. Bellingrath once said “The Gardens are like a beautiful woman with a different gown for each week of the year. ” With the camellia blooms in winter, the azaleas in spring, roses in the summer, chrysanthemums in autumn and our famed Magic Christmas in Lights during the holiday season, Bellingrath Gardens and Home is a 65 acre estate of year-round beauty. In addition to touring the Gardens, the Bellingrath Museum Home and the Fowl River aboard the Southern Belle River Cruise, come experience the Bayou Boardwalk, Mirror Lake, the Great Lawn, Asian-American Gardens, the 2004 Top Public Rose Garden in the United States, Butterfly Garden, Formal Garden Terraces, and more!

Modern museum housed in the Southern Market/Old City Hall National Historic Landmark, the Museum of Mobile is a visual masterpiece that provides an unparalleled event setting. A modern 1855 resolution, passed to construct a building for the city market and departments of the city government, now the Museum of Mobile, declared that this structure should be, "of handsome appearance-an ornament to the City,". Indeed it is. This beautiful Italianate building was, "quite the pride of Mobilians," then - and still is today. Rodin: A Magnificent Obsession. This wonderfully emotive exhibition features over 60 original, bronze sculptures by Auguste Rodin, one of the world’s most celebrated artists. The exhibition survey’s Rodin’s prolific career, including early decorative works; highlights from his major public commissions, such as The Thinker (1880).
